All Long Branch Duck Hunting
2003 Season
|
Waterfowl hunting on Long branch is restricted to
perminant blinds only that are assigned by
drawing before the season. The area north of Axtell road is
open to hunting on a walk in / boat in basis.
The area surounding the north end of the lake
is Atlanta Conservation area. This area has a number of good
sized ponds that may also provide a little
waterfowl hunting worth doing.
|
Longbranch Lake is not the best place in the world
to hunt ducks but it does provide a good hunt
every once in a while. This photo is of a good morning we
took just two ducks shy of a limit for each of us. Just one
mallard and one "other" duck away
from a limit. The conditions this year were a little rough
as the lake level was more than 4 foot low. There would be a
lot more area available to open hunting in
a year with normal lake level. As it was this year
there was almost no water at all in the north east area north
of Axtel road.
