All Long Branch Duck Hunting 2003 Season

Waterfowl hunting on Long branch is restricted to perminant blinds only that are assigned by drawing before the season. The area north of Axtell road is open to hunting on a walk in / boat in basis. The area surounding the north end of the lake is Atlanta Conservation area. This area has a number of good sized ponds that may also provide a little waterfowl hunting worth doing.

Longbranch Lake is not the best place in the world to hunt ducks but it does provide a good hunt every once in a while. This photo is of a good morning we took just two ducks shy of a limit for each of us. Just one mallard and one "other" duck away from a limit. The conditions this year were a little rough as the lake level was more than 4 foot low. There would be a lot more area available to open hunting in a year with normal lake level. As it was this year there was almost no water at all in the north east area north of Axtel road.
