AMO ARCHERY TRADE SHOW & TEAM REALTREE

By: Allen “horntagger” Morris

When you think things can’t get any bigger or better buy just attending the AMO archery trade show and getting to see all the new products and old friends. Team Realtree steps up to the plate and hits a grand slam.

Introducing the new Realtree Hardwoods HD and Realtree Hardwoods Green HD created with the High Definition imaging process is a great start for Team Realtree.

But when you bring the majority of Team Realtree sitting together to sign autographs for the people attending the show, you can’t get any bigger or better than that!

Shaking hands, sharing stories, laughs, and kidding around with each other, just like any good deer camp would have to be a once in a lifetime event for anyone attending the show.

Let me show you how deep the roots go for Team Realtree at the AMO trade show. Brenda Valentine, David Blanton, George Dixon, Chuck Adams, Bill Jordan, Ralph Cianciarulo, Michael Waddell, Bob Foulkrod, Stan Potts, Jay Gregory and Jackie Caudle.

Just like any 100-year-old oak tree when the roots go that deep nothing but a bright and long lasting future lays ahead for Team Realtree.

I am glad that I was able to witness such an event like this. Horntagger.

AMO ARCHERY TRADE SHOW
By: Allen “horntagger” Morris

WHAT IS IT?

AMO Archery Trade Show – It is a place for new companies to show off their products. It is a place for existing companies to show off their new and existing products. It is a one stop shop for anyone with a bow shop, sporting goods store and hunting club or what every you might be trying to stock or sell. It is a place if you have any interest in buying or selling hunting items for the outdoors you should have been this year no matter how big you think your are or how small.

ARCHERY MANUFACTURERS & MERCHANTS ORGANIZATION (AMO) is the 48-year-old archery trade association composed of over 600 archery manufacturers, distributors, retailers, sales reps and the archery media who are working together to "promote and protect" your bow and arrow sports. Over 90 people from 70 companies volunteer their time and expenses working for you! Whether you are a bowhunter, a target archer, or a member of the archery industry, you benefit from AMO's programs and teamwork. All AMO programs are funded by AMO's annual industry trade show.

WHY GO?

Well, I was just like you, I had never been to one, then about a week or two before the show I started getting e-mails from a few people asking me if I was going to the AMO show. At that time I had not even thought about it or knew about it. Then, I log onto www.amoshow.com and found some information on-line that helped me decide. This years show was January 25th, 26th, and 27th.

After working out details to go but only for one-day trip, I took off from Jackson, Missouri at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday and hit the parking lot at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee at 8:30 p.m.. I made my way to the registration desk for the show. Which was easy to find all you had to do was follow the camouflage hats and dress shirts.

Well I went to the entrance, and took a seat with one of the hundreds already standing at the entrance waiting for the show to open. People from across the country had driven in and flew in for this event. The gentleman I was sitting with was from Los Angles, California.

Nothing you can imagine can prepare you for a show like this unless you have been before as the doors opened at 9:00 a.m.

Over 500 hundred manufactures and suppliers on hand, answering question, showing you new products, setting up dealers, and thanking existing dealers for all their help last year.

WHO DO YOU KNOW AT THE SHOW?

Well I am not going to list every manufacturer, supplier or outdoor personalties at the show, but I will list a several so you get an idea. Bill Jordan’s Realtree, Hunter’s Specialties, Primos Hunting Calls, Drury Outdoors, Easton Archery, Knight & Hale Game Calls, PSE, BEAR, HOYT, Muzzy for the manufacturer and suppliers.

For the outdoor personalties, it had to be the place to be of the hunting world. Bill Jordan, Will Primos, Alex Rutledge, Eddie Salter, Duke Turnage, Mark Drury, David Hale, Brenda Valentine, Jerry Martin, David Blanton, George Dixon, Chuck Adams, Ralph Cianciarulo, Michael Waddell, Bob Foulkrod, Stan Potts, Jay Gregory, Jackie Caudle. You can honestly say the pro-staff for every company was on hand to answer questions.

The only thing I regret when I was leaving the show at 6:00 p.m. when it was closing the doors for the night is not attending the show for all three days. The main reason I did not get to talk to everyone or get to see every single new product now out. You just can not do it in one day. But will take what I can get.

GOING TO MISS IT AGAIN?

With events like this, I will say that the heritage of hunting may be under attack. But, it is strong in tradition, people, and companies trying to keep it alive! It is just too bad this is not open to the general public.

Just in case you want to get a head start for next year. It will be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – January 17th – 19th, 2003 at the Indiana Convention Center – Indianapolis, Indiana. For show information call 1-888-703-3307.

I am glad that I was able to witness such an event like this and hope I will again. Horntagger.
